Up to 8-lakh rupees discount on the 2023 old-stock Toyota Camry

Hi All,

I have been contemplating buying a Camry. recently went to a Toyota Dealership which has some 23 manufacturing Camry in stock. The dealership is offering me a whopping 4 Lac rupees discount on the car.

Is it too good to be true? Or should I bargain more? I haven't heard such high discounts on Camry before and hence wanted to cross check. Also are there any Model Changes about to come in Camry?

You can still bargain with the pricing and guess you can max out at 6L on the whole. Also, make sure to buy out both maintenance package and Extended Warranty as well.

Camry should also be replaced with a new gen within a year or so.

As far as I know, the Camry still isn't compliant with E20 fuel which could be problematic down the line and would cause the value of the car to drop, FYI

Not sure about the discounts, but the next gen (heavily revised of the existing gen) Camry has already been launched.

And it would definitely be launched in India within 2024. i.e. if they plan to continue the Camry for the Indian market.

The highest discount I’ve heard on the current facelift of the Camry till date is ₹8 Lakh (not in Mumbai though), so there is definitely some more room for bargaining !!

The next generation Camry (already unveiled) should be coming to India by next year.

Negotiate a better price - you can easily get 5.5-6l + goodies. Back in February, when I was negotiating, I was get this kind of discount for 2024 manufactured car. And tbh the car is quite good. While the new car may be appealing, it may take some time before it's launched and will have a price hike. If living with an older gen car isn't a problem, go ahead!

I was shopping for Hycross, the Pune dealership was pushing me to buy 24 model year Camry for immediate delivery. The car was wonderful in all areas- Hybrid tech, features, paint quality, interiors and exterior looks but I was hooked into SUV. They offered 5 Lakhs discounts without even bargaining. I believe that I could have got little more discounts easily.

You should get more for 2023 model year. Camry is very slow moving inventory for them.

Mumbai dealers are now giving bit above 8L off now. Depending on the inventory piled up, I think discounts could improve. 10L off would be a sweet spot, IMO.
Great VFM at that price, if one is able to live with the slight datedness especially when the new version comes out.
While the new gen is a league ahead, the price will be significantly more.

IMO, maybe against the crowd, but aim for an 8L Discount. Tell them straight, 8L off and I close the deal NOW (not today but NOW. Go with your cheque book and show it to them), else I walk out. Leave your card with them just before walking out to call you back if they reconsider, trust me, they’ll call you back and try to close it at least for 6L. Toyota salesmen out of all other companies are not used to dealing with heavy discounts and they are easier to cripple under pressure. (Testament to the company that they don’t really need to offer discounts)

I know the new Camry is launched, but it will be DOA if it comes to India. Reasons?

Sedan demand is dead, the new one will be priced obnoxiously high to have any takers. The fact that the current Camry sold in India still has so many units left is cause people already found the current Camry to be overpriced. Heck, they even don’t buy it despite the heavy discounts!

Take the money saved from the excess discount and buy the longest warranty and cover they offer. While you may feel the non-compliance with the current fuel norms may see it depreciate heavily, but trust me that a compliant german would also equally depreciate. The extended warranty would also help it keep its value better.

The best time to buy these heavily overpriced cars is now, just like the best time to buy an iPhone is when its older and the next gen iPhone releases. Its still ultimately an iPhone and the depreciation ratio of any tried and tested reliable product would be fixed to the initial value that you purchased it at, irrespective of the gen. This is purely my opinion.

Dont look at the 4Lacs as a whole number. For an average Indian anything in Lakhs may seem a big number. Rule #1 in discounts, trade or business is 'There is always room for more'. No one offers the best at first. I thought of the answer even before I read the following posts.

Dealer in my hometown Aligarh (UP) is offering 6 Lakhs+ discount on 2024 model currently on display, and he is ready to negotiate more but as we were not interested in Camry so we didn't discuss anything further.

I really think one can get easily 8-10 lakhs discount on 2023 stock. I had a word with Lexus Delhi, they are offering the ES300H with Standard 8 year warranty/ 1,60,000kms (nothing extra to be paid for 8 years) plus they offered almost 4 lakhs straight discount + 1Lakh corporate as well.

The best place to buy a Toyota Camry is the Toyota Kirloskar owned used car showroom in Bangalore. You get it for 12 lakhs less (compared to OTR price) for one year old Camry with just 6000-7000 kms on the odo and used by Toyota employees in their manufacturing plant. These are pristinely maintained Camrys!

My Toyota SA offered me one on 29/3/24 with a discount of 8L flat along with accessories, I passed the offer as the car doesn’t justify its price.

There is more room to negotiate here, press hard and they will budge.
